Is there a difference between a mindset coach and a life coach?

My answer is no.

A coach helps you get from where you are now to where you want to be, so it could be said that all coaches are mindset coaches.

A great mindset / life coach empowers you. They will ask more of you than you would ask of yourself. They will challenge you. They are outcome driven and will hold you responsible and accountable. They are honest, great rapport builders, effective communicators, have a growth mindset, deep listening skills, are judgement free, creative, and strategic thinkers.

They are people who get things done. They love outcomes and are generally drive by progress and results!

Why would you work with a mindset or life coach?

A great question – everyone can benefit from a good coach. A mindset coach or life coach will help you identify where you are at in your life and where you want to be. Whether you want to achieve something specific or wish to have a new level of success, are feeling stuck and don’t know how to move forward, a life coach can help.

Working with a professional coach 1:1 or in a group setting will propel you forward …if you do the work. A coach by your side keeps you focused and accountable to your set goals. They will train you, inspire you, encourage you, coax you and have you discover what is holding you back. They will help you to get clear on what you want, the obstacles and how to overcome them. They will share proven strategies and tools to move you to the next level and turn your dreams into reality.

All kinds of people use life / mindset coaches, including professional, entrepreneurs, athletes, actors, business leaders, creatives, homemakers, managers, executives, and coaches! What they have in common is a desire to solve the gap of where they are and where they want to be.

Coaching is rewarding it can also be tough at times, it can be confronting, it can get messy – and it’s worth it. Coaching will have you step into discomfort and keep you moving forward to your possible. Clear goals with clear outcomes and actions steps feels great, it makes the intangible, tangible.

How does the coaching work?

Coaches can work in varying ways. One thing to note is, a coach is not a therapist, councillor, or a mentor. A qualified and good coach will elicit the best out of you through effective questioning, active listening, and accountability. Working with a life / mindset coach can help you to deal with certain unresolved issues, life coaches cannot treat mood disorders, anxiety disorders, addiction, or any other mental health condition.

Qualified coaches use proven frame works and modalities to move you forward. They will draw on resources, training, and knowledge to ask you powerful questions to get you to where you want to be.

During a first session with a coach, they will help you get clear on what you want, identify what program will best serve you to get you where you want to be. They will discuss specifically what you want, your why, identify where you are now and what’s required to get you there.

A life / mindset coach is not required forever. They will teach strategies, tools, share resources and remove limiting beliefs and actions. A great coach will empower you to move forward independently. The cool thing is they are there if you hit another glass ceiling that you feel you can not to move through on your own. Ultimately their goal is to set you up for ongoing success!

The amount of time a coach will work with a client can vary as can the way they structure their plans/programs. Some coaches will do a minimum number of sessions and others may work off a membership model. It is important to allow time to build effective action steps, mindset changes and outcomes to achieve the desired goals.

It is a small percentage of the population that can say they are at the top of their game every day. If you are ready to move forward and tap into your possible, your potential and move your life to the next level then it’s time we had a chat.

“I never cease to be amazed at the power of the coaching process to draw out the skills or talent that was previously hidden within an individual, and which invariably finds a way to solve a problem previously thought unsolvable.”
